I cant wait to experience the great wildebeest migration in the Serengeti and Masai Mara. This is the most exhilarating experience you’ll ever see in your lifetime. Wildebeest moving in masses all in search of green pastures, water and away from thunderstorms. The wildebeest are in tune with the times and season’s and any change in the climate they are prepared to migrate to their next destination.
The great migration actually occurs throughout the year (with at least 8 months of moving) starting with The Serengeti national park in Tanzania through the Masai Mara Kenya and repeats all over again.

The grasses have been depleted in the Ngorongoro conservation and fresh short grasses in the Mara await their arrival. The journey is now set for the Masai Mara, though not safe as hungry predators lie in wait. Along the Mara river is the crocodile and on the banks are the lions who are also aware of the timing.
They lie in wait for food as approximately 1.5million wildebeest come crossing. What blessing the lions expect this season, no need to hunt since the dinner table is sets itself in the river banks. All you need is a safari in Kenya and head to Masai Mara for a personal experience.

Experience The Best of The Great Wildebeest Migration
You’ll experience this in two major migration times
- During the calving season in January when the predators like lions, cheetahs and hyenas are attracted. What follows is a dramatic chase where survival for the fittest is what counts. The wildebeests are not blessed with speed therefore they mostly loose the war with predators.
- The crossing of the Mara river: In July-August the herd’s desire for green grass tasks them to see no such obstacle as the river brings. The crocodiles and other predators lie in wait both inside the waters and the banks. Due to security provided by their huge numbers the wildebeests manage to cross with casualties.
